Driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol

There is a considerable amount of information on line in relation to driving whilst under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

RoSPA’s free guide (link below – December 2015) outlines –

Drink and driving – The effects of alcohol, the drink drive limit, the morning after and penalties.

Drugs and driving – The background to illegal drugs, prescribed medicines and over-the  counter  medicines, the penalties, consequences and how drugs and medicines affect ones ability to drive.

The guide also gives simple advice on how employers and line managers can help to ensure that their staff do not drive when affected by alcohol, drugs or medicines. It can be used to inform the organisation’s risk assessment.

There is also a sample policy which RoSPA suggest that organisations adapt to suit their needs.
